What do healthy boundaries look like?
Happy Friday, Collective,
This week I hosted several groups here in Punta Cana, and every single one of them said the same thing:
“Wait… you get paid to do this?”
It made me laugh, but it also made me pause.
When I first started Yinsa, I wasn’t practicing what I preached. I taught balance, Ayurveda, and self-care, but my real life looked very different. I was teaching full time with a two-hour commute each way, raising a teenager, and running a skincare business out of my playroom. I was constantly exhausted. I had no space. Eventually, my body started sending very loud signals in the form of panic attacks.
It was my mentor, Kate Kuss, who gently but firmly encouraged me to start removing things from my life — not adding more. I hired help for my home. I brought on support for pop-ups and logistics. The truth is, I had never hired anyone before and had absolutely no idea how to be a “boss.”
Even after two decades as an educator, I had almost no experience modeling my work for other adults. Entrepreneurship forced me to learn how to communicate, how to delegate, how to repair mistakes, and how to lead without SOPs. There was no class for this. No online program. Just lived experience, trial and error, and a lot of humility.
Fast-forward to now.
Yinsa has multiple team members across different projects. I have support in my home so I’m not spending my energy on things that drain me. I work with a driver so my time isn’t lost in traffic. I delegate travel clients so I can focus on the work that requires my presence. I have learned that managing adults somehow stretched me more than managing children ever did.
Entrepreneurship really is the deepest form of self-development.
What I haven’t done ever is take a meaningful break from social media.
In a world where information never stops, where the news feels increasingly heavy, and where my phone has become a second nervous system, I can feel myself drifting back toward overwhelm. In one year, I went from one business to three: a concierge travel company, a local tour company in the Dominican Republic, and Yinsa, the umbrella for everything rooted in balance and creativity.
I know what happens when I ignore these signals; disrupted sleep patterns, dehydration, and unexplained anxiety. I won’t go back to that place again.
This January, I’m committing to a full reset:
-
No alcohol, refined sugar, or caffeine
-
A complete social media fast — TikTok and Instagram deleted for the month
I want to see what happens when I stop consuming so much information and start listening again. I want space to redefine how I move through the world in 2026.
To do that responsibly, I’m focused on filling the final four seats for the Self-Love Retreat in Cabarete, Dominican Republic this February 13-18. If you’ve been on the fence, I’ve created a few very intentional incentives to support your decision.

I’ve come to understand that teaching isn’t just about what we say — it’s about what we model. Yes, you can build a career, raise a family, travel, create, and leave a legacy you’re proud of. But you cannot do it alone. You need community support. You also need moments where you step out of the noise and back into yourself.
That’s what this retreat is. Learn more about this retreat below...
If Cabarete is calling you, I would love to welcome you this February. If not, Portugal in July and Bali in August are also open. There is a retreat for every season of life.
For now, there are four seats left for Cabarete. I'll see you at the beach!
With love,
Daniele
